Frequently Asked Questions
What materials will my child need for online tutoring?
Students will need a computer with internet, document camera, and a 12X18 (or 11X16) sized whiteboard with thin whiteboard markers. A packet of materials will be mailed to you after registration.
What materials will my child need for in person tutoring?
All materials will be provided during in person tutoring.
Why do you prefer twice per week sessions for new students?
I have found that for reading remediation, a twice a week schedule is the most efficient and effective for most students. This allows the consistency for the child and time to practice strategies and skills more deeply throughout the week. While this is not always possible, starting with a 2x a week schedule can be valuable.
How will I know if my child is progressing?
After each session I record session notes in Tutorbird for parents to view. I progress monitor students using various assessments after 12 sessions together and again after students complete activity 70. Parents are always welcome to ask for more information about their child's progress if needed.
